About us:

Greetings, my name is Oksana, and I am your Ukrainian/English Interpreter. I would like to furnish you with some details regarding my life. How I have ended up writing this scenario is a wonder in itself.
 
I was born in England 52 years ago to Ukrainian Parents, who emigrated from Western Ukraine. In this bilingual home, I was brought up with Ukrainian and English culture, religion, language and a European outlook on life. I graduated in Ukrainian and English, and with that knowledge and expertise, I translated on a personal level for over 30 years within the Ukrainian and English community in England. My work history has been in Management in the Hotel Industry and then for 8 years within the counselling/social area for the Government.
 
I have had the opportunity to visit on several occasions the former USSR (Russia and Ukraine), and have a deep respect for both cultures. It has always been my ambition to utilize my skills and develop my bilingual assets. Because of my  personal experience and knowledge in cultural and language differences, I would like to share my knowledge and expertise to help people achieve a better way of life!
 
 3 years ago I emigrated to Canada. During that period I discovered  my hidden talent of writing poetry. I then had the sincerely great good fortune of meeting Tamara  - your Russian/English interpreter. Because of our similar backgrounds, although from opposite sides of the world, yet neighbours in truth by language, we soon found we had a mutual understanding of the need to utilize our talents and experiences in life. With Tamara having lived in the Ukraine, and then emigrating to Canada, I feel that together we form an excellent partnership in sharing our knowledge and talents.
 
With that the seeds of "Sunflower Translation Service" were sown.

Hello, my name is Tamara. I was born in Nikolaev, Ukraine some 33 years ago, and I lived in Ukraine for 29 years. My parents were Russian and Ukrainian, I grew up within the Russian - Ukrainian culture and languages. My native language is Russian and I graduated as an Architectural Engineer from both the College and Academy in Ukraine. I worked as an engineer and with the advance of computers I also became a computer teacher in the School for Adults. 

 Some 6 years ago my life totally changed! I met my future Canadian husband. Although I did not speak English and he did not speak Russian; through my friend, who was a interpreter, we managed to communicate and our relationship developed. I finally arrived on Canadian soil, 4 years ago.

For the past 2 years I was involved in the translation of personal correspondence with my girlfriends from Ukraine and their partners in North America. Because of the hardship I experienced, and with the difficulties surrounding my friend's relationships  in the communication part, let alone the official "red tape":  I decided to use my knowledge and expertise to link up with Oksana, to provide a service to assist anyone who needed help in communicating with their Loved ones.         Tamara
